Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program

Roberto was 17 months sober when he was the victim of an unimaginable attack—drugged with a substance suspected to contain fentanyl and abandoned in his car. His shoes, wallet, and other belongings were stolen. This life-altering experience left Roberto with a severe brain injury, requiring immediate and intensive medical care, and assistance from ABLE's Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program.

Recent funding has been allocated to all 12 Regional Ombudsman programs, including ABLE’s program, to bolster advocacy efforts across Ohio. A significant outcome of the Task Force's work is the introduction of the Nursing Home Quality Navigator. 

Individuals ages 18 and older looking to make a difference in the lives of residents living in nursing homes, assisted living homes, and group homes can become Certified Ombudsman Associates in ABLE's Regional Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program.

Elder abuse is a crime. Abuse of an older adult can happen in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, adult group homes, and other long-term care facilities. Abuse from a caregiver can also occur in private homes.
